Give the legs a rest and flex your brain this winter!
After a late start, our many local ski fields are having an epic season, but sometimes your body needs a break, and one of Wanaka and New Zealand’s most iconic tourist attractions is the perfect après-ski or rest-day activity this winter. Here’s why….
Puzzling World has been astounding people of all ages and nationalities for the past 53 years with its three-dimensional Great Maze, six incredible Illusion Rooms, and other architectural treats such as the Tumbling Towers, the Leaning Tower of Wanaka, and, of course, the world-famous Roman Toilets.
Like skiing, Puzzling World offers families a great activity where the intention is not only to stretch the legs but also the minds!
With a great winter menu including cheese toasties, croissants, pizzas, burgers, and waffles to add to their pie, scone, and muffin favorites, you can relax in the warmth of the Puzzle Centre, trying your hand at one of the many puzzles on offer while savoring a coffee and a bite to eat.
The incredible range of puzzles, books, and games in the gift shop means that all ages, abilities, and temperaments are covered, and on those long winter nights, what could be better than curling up with a good book or puzzle?!
The opening hours of 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (last admission) mean hard-core skiers who don’t believe in ‘rest days' can still visit Puzzling World before or after their day on the slopes and experience what has consistently been ranked among the world’s top attractions. And if you are here late in the day, you still have plenty of time to complete the maze, as this stays open for ticket holders after last admission to finish under floodlights if required!
As any snow bunny would attest, skiing and boarding aren’t the cheapest form of entertainment, but here, with admission prices between $18 and $33, and a family pass covering two adults and two children for $99, your wallet, along with aching legs, can also take a rest!
When planning your holiday to the Southern Lakes region this winter, make sure you not only visit some of the world-class ski resorts on offer but also allow for a stopover at Wanaka’s wonderful world of weirdness, Puzzling World.
